+ My Plant-Based Pregnancy

It’s a special moment in a woman’s life when she can tell people “I’m pregnant!” When you’re vegan and/or eat minimal animal products though, people immediately become concerned about your nutrition. Barely a ‘congratulations’ had passed people’s mouths before questions regarding nutrition were directed my way. I tried to be patient and share my perspective, but it was made more frustrating when you consider that no-one would dare dream say to an unhealthy pregnant woman eating a high-fat,

+ Evan’s Newborn Photoshoot at Home in London

While pregnant with Evan, I knew I wanted to immortalise the early weeks with him as babies change so quickly! I was able to find a fantastic photographer called Kate Elliott via Instagram and her Arrow and Lo photography blog. What I loved most about her style was that they were unposed, didn’t require props and she was also happy to take some extra shots on request too (for example a line-up of bamboo breast pads drying on

+ Our Basement Renovation – Part 1

On the face of it, we moved into a flat with the bathroom of our dreams. When viewing the flat before buying, we were blown away by the giant shower enclosure, freestanding bathtub and the sheer space it was going to offer us. Our surveyor suggested we consider making the main bathroom an en-suite and adding a walk-in wardrobe between that and the master bedroom. From there, we could then transform the spare toilet/utility room into a family bathroom. After all,

+ Split, Korčula & Dubrovnik: Croatia Travel Tips

I planned our Croatia trip almost a year in advance – we had no big plans to look forward to and Croatia was always on our bucket list so it made sense to get something in the diary. It was a daunting task – there’s so many must-see places that it’s futile to try to tick them all off in one week, so we settled on an itinerary of five nights in Split (to include day trips to

Today marks my last full day of maternity leave! I Today marks my last full day of maternity leave! It's mostly been a balancing act of nursing my son (who refused bottles), writing my dissertation & feeling conflicted between trying to 'teach' Ev to #selfsettle while adopting #responsiveparenting and #positiveparenting!

My #maternityleave in summary:

- At #8monthspregnant I contended with an abandoned #houserenovation due to our builders going bankrupt!
- I recorded an @lse.pbs assessment hours before my waters broke
- Ev was born on the day the #covid_19 genome was sequenced
- We went into 🔒down when he was #10weeksold
- My agoraphobic mum needed help throughout it with groceries/bins taking out, so I did my absolute best to keep her safe while stuck in London
- I wrote a 3K essay + a 10K thesis with NO INTERNET for several weeks (yep, a car smashed into the street's broadband box!)
- I abandoned an @glideapps app I spent 6 weeks building for my #behaviouralscience experiment due to incompatibility w/ #prolificacademic
- I sorted the house purchase of a retirement flat for my mum

Hmm... I think that was it! Being a #firsttimemum in a pandemic has been hard but I cannot WAIT to crack on with 2021. I'm so grateful to have had this year with Ev despite all the challenges and to have a job to go back to 🙌

Each year on NYE Ned and I ask each other question Each year on NYE Ned and I ask each other questions like "when did you laugh the hardest this year" or "biggest lesson you learned this year".

This year we struggled to find answers because we genuinely have less memories to choose from as we've barely seen anyone else 😐

While I can flippantly say f*ck you 2020, I did learn a valuable lesson. I truly witnessed/appreciated for the first time the inequalities within and between nations, & the fallout from exploiting nature, animals and other humans. (The BLM movement, reading books like @drjasonhickel's #thedivide and researching for my dissertation on pro-environmental behaviour change have massively evolved my worldview this year).

I'm hopeful for a 2021 where I live closer to my values--using my various privileges to do better, create more, consume less, think less about myself and more about others
